Giorgio Armani to Hooks over

Is giorgio Armani for sale?
Like a sparkle in the quiet blue horizont, the news comes in the hands of Giorgio the King Armani.
John Hooks the brain master, deus ex machina for Armani expansion, looks ready to leave the fashion group after a liaison held up for over 11 Years.
Sudden change of leadership in the Armani Group. According to rumors, in fact, after 11 years was preparing to leave the company vice president John Hooks, the right arm of Giorgio Armani. Having long been responsible for expanding sales of the group, which is present all over the world, eighteen months ago Hooks became vice president with oversight on the area of trade.
Is this going to change the perspective for one of the most celebrated fashion groups?
Our concern is aimed primarily on the stylistic aspects of the brand.
Mr.
Armani still has the spirit of a boy, but the body keeps the time and we already can not tell which hand will lead the brand as styling director for the day to come.
If you think that one of the advocates of commercial success goes, other clouds are gathering on the horizon of the eagle's brand.
Giorgio Armani is preparing for the IPO or the sale?

Giorgio Armani and the God new clothes

Armani2 | Olive Oil Times

Pantelleria, the Sicilian volcanic island that is closer to Tunisia than it is to Italy, has a new church and the bishop of the diocese has new vestments, courtesy of Giorgio Armani. The Milan-based designer has had a vacation house on Pantelleria for close to 40 years and obliged Monsignor Domenico Mogavero’s request for the design and donation of vestments.

In response to critics questioning the luxurious nature of Armani vestments, Bishop Mogavero said, “It isn’t a question of worldliness, but a way of involving a creator of fashion, who loves Pantelleria, and it’s a way of valuing his originality and sense of beauty in the service of mass, and therefore of God.”

Bishop Mogavero presides over the diocese of Mazara del Vallo, a port city of Sicily connected to Pantelleria by ferry. Last week the bishop officiated at the blessing of the Pantelleria church’s new forecourt and wore one of the four sets of vestments designed by Armani. Ensembles were created in each of the liturgically important colors of white, red, green, and violet.

Because of the relevance of the sea to the diocese, the vestments are embroidered with sea life such starfish, scallops and seaweed. What will most interest readers of Olive Oil Times, however, are the olives on the mitre. The sprays of olive branches with fruit are embroidered in golden thread. One spray stands vertically at the center of the mitre and two others are placed horizontally at the band of the headpiece.

Olive trees and olive oil are highly significant in Catholicism. The name Christ comes from Greek word meaning anoint, and the oil used in church services is known as chrism. It is a mixture of olive oil and scent, usually balsam. The olive oil mixture is used from the sacrament of Baptism to the final sacrament of Extreme Unction. Church bishops on Holy Thursday, a day in Lent, consecrate chrism, and this makes the Armani mitre iconography especially fitting.

Pantelleria is a wind swept island and the olives, mostly the biancolilla cultivar, are bent low from the constant pounding of the wind. Biancolilla refers to the color–white purple. The olive oil is mostly extracted in September and tastes of tomato and artichoke. Pantelleria olive growers formed a cooperative in 2006, the Consorzio olivicoltori di Pantelleria. Their site says that a classic biancolilla olive tree is not over a meter in height, but can “crawl” outward an amazing 100 meters. The wind is most injurious in the spring when the trees flower and attempt to set fruit. Unsurprisingly, the cultivar is known as a good pollinator.

Giorgio Armani uses olives in the men’s scent called Armani Code Summer. In addition to olive leaves, it’s made with bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, neroli, rose, tarragon, cedar, amber and other ingredients. Sicily is famous for its citrus, and just maybe the inspiration for the scent came from Armani’s summerhouse in Pantelleria.

Galliano who?

Dior airbrushes disgraced Galliano out of its history

aus bus pix Dior Galliano

AT Christian Dior, the disgraced British couturier John Galliano has been restyled as the man with no name, the man who never existed.

Galliano has been airbrushed out of Dior history to remove an ugly stain from the glittering reputation of the world-renowned French fashion house.

As Christian Dior held its annual meeting in the Louvre yesterday, executives deployed extraordinary linguistic talents to avoid all mention of the designer, who was its figurehead until last month.

Take, for instance, Florian Ollivier, the chief financial officer, who skipped over the inebriated rants that led to Galliano's dismissal as he delivered an upbeat presentation of record sales and an even better outlook.

Dior was known for its "formidable creative capacity", he said in a speech that came after shareholders were shown a film featuring its fashion shows, with Galliano's celebrated end-of-show appearances left on the cutting-room floor.

Sidney Toledano, the chief executive, did even better as he managed to answer a question on the company's response to the couturier's fall without actually pronouncing the dreaded G-word.

Asked by a shareholder how the group had dealt with "the massacre of its reputation", Mr Toledano referred to the accusations of anti-Semitism made against Galliano as "The Crisis" and said Dior followed public reaction on an hour-by-hour basis.

There was a moment of toe-curling embarrassment when another shareholder broke the taboo to pay homage to Galliano's final collection for Dior, unveiled at Paris Fashion Week a few days after his sacking.

She asked who would replace him as head designer.

Bernard Arnault, the chairman, said that he and Mr Toledano were sifting through a list of candidates following the "unpredictable and regrettable events" - which was another way of describing Galliano's sacking without having to mention his name.

No decision had been made on his successor, it was reported, although that did not mean Dior would be absent from this year's shows.

Collections were being designed internally, said Mr Toledano, and "there will be no blanks".

He did nothing to play down suggestions in Paris fashion circles that Dior might not name a new head designer until later this year.

Given the group's failure to notice Galliano's descent into drink, it is determined to run thorough checks on whoever steps into his shoes.

According to the Parisian rumour mill, Riccardo Tisci, the creative director at Givenchy, a brand owned by Mr Arnault's LVMH luxury goods group, is among the contenders.

So are Phoebe Philo, creative director at Celine, another LVMH brand, and Peter Copping, creative director at Nina Ricci. Both are British.

Dior, which holds 42 per cent of LVMH, reported sales of €21.1 billion ($29bn) for last year, up from €17.7bn in 2009. Profit increased by 29 per cent to €4.3bn and free cash flow reached €3bn. It was, said Mr Arnault, a "remarkable performance".

Versace Leather Shoulder Bag - Fashion Forum

Another day, another pink bag. I swear, my bank account will be wiped out by the time spring gets here. It might be worth it, though, because this Versace Leather Shoulder Bag is to die for. To be fair, it’s really more of a pinky-lilac, but that makes it more interesting and even more grownup than, say, a flat bubblegum pink. Hints of gold hardware and a just-noticeable-enough Versace nameplate make it even more fabulous. Even more to its credit, it’s a glamorous bag that knows how to play with casual duds, too. Try it with...irony

Harrods new shoe room

A pair of limited-edition python-skin sandals by Nicholas Kirkwood have been kept under wraps - until now. I'm the first person to try them on, and they are stunning, with intricate mesh criss-crossing the ankles. They cost around £1,100.

As I start to walk in the 6in-plus heels, I feel unsteady, but Kirkwood advises: "Heel down first, then roll through the balls of your feet and spring off your toes." But it's no good; back into the box they go. It's time to find something a little safer. Here's my choice of on-trend heels - and you can walk in all of them.

Animal print: Python platform sandal, £180, Kurt Geiger. Wear with: flares, Seventies casual.

Colour: Red peep-toe shoe-boot; £350, Kurt Geiger. Wear with: a neutral trouser suit or contrasting bright dress.

Nude: Leather bow sandal, £540, Rupert Sanderson. Wear with: a white Stella McCartney-style trouser suit.

Ladylike: Patent kitten heels with bow, £480, Valentino. Wear with: midi skirts, skinny and cropped slim trousers.

Seventies: Leather sandal, £710, YSL. Wear with: jewel-coloured Gucci-style satin separates.

Gucci from catwalk to high street

Gucci is synonymous with glamour and what better decade

for the Italian label to hop in to bed with than the 1970s.

The designer, Frida Giannini, cited fashion photographers

of the era such as Guy Bourdin plus the exoticism of

Marrakech as her inspirations. Alternatively, think Bianca

Jagger at Studio 54 and you'll have it nailed.

A key player in this look is the jumpsuit. The all-in-one has

many guises but none is more louche and downright sexy

than the satin version. This one from Marks & Spencer is

perfect with its tapered leg, cutaway halter neck and

jewel tone, colour blocking.

Slick hair, strong make-up with a high-impact ruby lip and

plenty of gold accessories will complete the glamazon

feel. Plus these Topshop sandals are deliciously similar to

Gucci's. Who needs buckets of cash when you have high-

street know-how?
